Why a Children’s Home?

Children in our country are at risk due to substance abuse, violence, sexual abuse, HIV/aids, poverty and many other factors. So many children are found in need of care and are placed in a home when no other safe placement could be made.

At the Durbanville Children’s Home we seek to nurture and offer loving care to children from abusive or troubled backgrounds, in order to help them to be safe and have the opportunity to develop into mature, well-balanced men and women.

• Today the Durbanville Children’s Home cares for 144 children from various communities in the Western Cape.
• 10 Houses accommodate the children with child care workers on duty around the clock.
• The children are daily transported to 27 different schools and each child has an individual development plan.
• The costs are approx. R 3680 per child per month. The State provides R1520 per child per month.
